TOKYO: Sumo, sushi and showers

Tokyo is every bit as overwhelming as people say, and hugely enjoyable for it. We've seen temples, shrines, gardens and shops plastered in neon. Our Japanese doesn't extend much beyond three different variations of the words 'thank you' at the moment, but we're learning.
This morning we got up at 5:40am to make the journey to Tsukiji fish market, which seemed to have the entire contents of the Pacific ocean under one roof - giant tuna, octupi, live eels - wow. We had sushi for breakfast there - made in front of our eyes - probably the best I've tasted.
We then went on to get our tickets for the Sumo - its the September tournament, and all the big boys are in town. It's a spectacle you can't really hope to understand, only enjoy.. The crowd especially loved 'Ama' - a man the size of two prop forwards, who threw a lot of salt around the ring before winning his bout. This goes on for 19 days..... We've had a bit of rain here, but nothing the hotel umbrella couldn't cope with. We're off to Kyoto tomorrow - where the forecast promises three days of sun, as well as more temples, shrines and - if all goes to plan, a trip on the shinkansen bullet train. Sayonara!
